Coast/*K, part of VITAL SOURCES, is an installation departing from encounters with the wadden coast of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden islands. The installation is centered around an assemblage of materials found on said coast, and You bring me (Closer), a series of darkroom photograms developed with these materials. I am getting to know this place and learning how to merge with it; developing what Erin Manning describes as a body-world continuum; breaking what Stefano Harney and Fred Moten describe as the speciation of human and land. An accompanying video and text frame the project within a larger landscapely research process. This larger process spans different landscapes and assembles knowledge domains like autistic embodiment, decolonial theory and landscape poetry. The photographs are enhanced with a tactile layer and the assemblage is enhanced with a perfume, for multi-sensory access. On certain moments, the installation is closed off and visitors are invited to stim with me.
