"And the people decided it was time to change their rhythms. And the people decided to seek rock, and strayed until they found solace. And the people decided to let the air out of their bodies, and attained a sense of resonance and attunement."
The performance "Rocks, Resting", part of Grounding Strategies, consisted of three enormous rocks temporarily placed in the heart of the city center, with five people taking rest and caring for each other. The people were all dealing with exhaustion, from forces like ableism and xenophobia, disability and illness, work and precarity. In the bustling, snowing, noisy city center, the people on the rock formed an oasis of silent rest.
The performance was presented by Kunstpunt Groningen and Eurosonic Noorderslag, and supported by Mondriaan Fonds & Elja Foundation.
